We’re back! Join us for world class live music in Meltham with The Charlotte Carrivick Band this autumn. This sensational quartet performs a fabulous mix of bluegrass, folk, Americana, jazz and country roots, demonstrating their mastery across multiple genres with astonishing skill, fun and good humour. Charlotte Carrivick is a flatpicking guitarist of international renown, in demand both as a performer and teacher for her inventive lead guitar playing. A hugely talented multi-instrumentalist, Charlotte has been playing music since a very young age and is regarded as an expert interpreter of fiddle tunes on the acoustic guitar. She has been performing professionally with her twin sister Laura for the last two decades in the folk-roots duo The Carrivick Sisters, releasing six albums to date and touring regularly. Charlotte also found acclaim as a founder member of all-female Anglo-Irish bluegrass band Midnight Skyracer, the first British act to be nominated for an award by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA), and with other musical projects including Americana band Cardboard Fox and her banjo-fiddle old time duo with Kieran Towers.
The whole line-up is made up of equally talented musicians. Having come together to help Charlotte bring her 2024 album Sensible or Otherwise to life, they enjoyed playing together so much that they established this touring band. Eleanor Cross (Charlotte’s Midnight Skyracer bandmate) is known on the UK bluegrass scene as one of our finest proponents of double bass, and master mandolinist Evan Davies (The Often Herd, Sugarwell Hill) has just returned from the Herd’s debut tour of the USA. After winning the IBMA’s 2025 International Band Grant, this summer they performed to great acclaim at some major American festivals and fabled venues including the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. Fiddle ace Kieran Towers has previously performed and recorded with Hot Rock Pilgrims and Hannah Read among many more, and is a principal musician in the popular One Night in Nashville touring show. Every member of this brilliant band brings their own musical skills to the collective, and their evident enjoyment in playing music together elevates the sum of the parts even more.
We have previously hosted all the different band members in different line-ups for some fantastic past concerts, and we’re so excited to bring The Charlotte Carrivick Band to Meltham for a performance this October. The quartet makes exceptional music which is at various times joyous, poignant, pensive or exuberant, featuring both virtuosic instrumentals and close harmony singing. This is going to be a fabulous evening of live music, so please book your tickets in advance and help us make it a big success!
